Data Match Service Overview

  • Place the BounceBack pixel on your web site.

  • An anonymous web site visitor visits your web site and the LeadPost pixel fires on the user's browser.

  • When the BounceBack pixel fires, we leverage a network of deterministic and probabilistic data providers in real-time to locate a "hashed" email address of the anonymous visitor.

  • We automatically confirm that the anonymous web site visitor matches the data filters you set up for your campaign.

  • For visitors which match your filter criteria, we leverage a network of data providers to convert the "hashed" email address of the visitor to name, physical mailing address, and append an opt-in append email, where available.

  • We verify that the identified user lives at the address matched, the mailing address is deliverable, and that the email address appended is deliverable.

  • We deliver the match and verified data automatically to you based on your data delivery preferences.

  • We print and sent your matched and filtered prospects a customized mailing piece.

  • You have unlimited marketing rights to the delivered data across all channels, including email, direct mail, social, and display.

How does BounceBack identify anonymous web site visitors?

BounceBack has integrations with numerous data providers to identify visitors in real-time as they visit your web site, leveraging the placement of a pixel on your site.  There are multiple steps in this identification process, but it begins with deterministic data providers (cookie-based identification) and also includes probabilistic data providers (IP and fingerprint technologies).   Based on identification signals of anonymous web site visitors, this data is then converted to verified name, mailing address and email, leveraging additional data partners and verification providers.

Is my data shared with other parties?

No.  Under no circumstances will your site visitor information be shared with anyone else.  The data collected is for your exclusive use only.

What data do I get?

You will always the receive the name and mailing address of identified web site visitors.  Where available, you will also receive the email address of these visitors.

Is the data verified?

Yes. Name and address data is verified using 3rd party services to confirm that the address is deliverable and the individual lives at that address.  Where the email address is available, the email address is also verified as deliverable.

What if a web site visitors comes back?    Will data on this visitors be re-sent?

When you configure your campaign, you will be provided the option on whether to re-send repeat visitors.  The default is to re-send data on repeat visitors every 30 days, but this can be extended up to 90 days, or disabled completely.

What countries is this service available in?

The service is solely available in the US and will only identify visitors in the US.

Can I filter the data?

Yes.   You can filter data on anonymous web site visitors based on pages visited and exclude visitors based on key pages visited as well.

Can I suppress existing customers?

Yes.   You can seamlessly suppress existing customers based on email address and/or full name and address.

How does payment work?

Before you launch your campaign, you will be required to enter your credit card information.  Your credit card will be charged once you reach $500 in delivered data, or every 30 days for spend, whichever comes first.

How can the data be used?

The distributed data may be used on an unlimited basis to market to these web site visitors across multiple marketing channels, including display, social, direct mail and email.

Is it okay to send direct mail to these users?

Yes. There are no laws in the US which restrict how direct mail may be sent or how data for these sends is collected or gathered.

Is it okay to email these users who have not explicitly opted in?

Yes. In the US, the CAN SPAM Act allows email to be sent to any user, regardless of whether they opted in with you to receive it, so long as specific rules are followed, including providing a mechanism in the emails sent for the user to opt out from future email.

How do privacy laws apply?

Since the service only operates in the US, international privacy laws such as GDPR and CASL do not apply.  From a US perspective, states are beginning to enact state-level privacy laws, such as California’s CCPA. To date, these restrictions have been centered around notification of data collection and usage and the ability for users to opt out and/or purge data collected.  Because no PII is being passed, use of the service does not require any additional steps to be taken outside of the ones that you likely already have in place to comply with these laws.  However, your privacy policies should be reviewed to ensure proper disclosure of the use of third-party data collection services (recommended language provided upon request).

How does the proposed phase out of 3rd party cookies by Google Chrome impact the service?

BounceBack has been closely watching this issue for some time, including updates related to other main-stream browsers.  While we cannot predict whether the proposed phase out of 3rd party cookies in Google Chrome will occur, nor the timing of this, we have taken proactive measures to ensure continuity of service by layering in probabilistic match partners to ensure ongoing data collection and coverage in the event of this update.
